Biography

Blessed Zosimo Maria Brambat, also known as Zosimo Brambat, was a Cistercian brother in the Congregation of Casamari. He was born in Milan, Italy, and became a member of the abbey in 1792. On 20 November 1795, he made his profession as a religious brother and dedicated his life to serving God.

During his time at the abbey, Zosimo experienced the turbulent period of the French Revolution, which had a profound impact on religious communities throughout Europe. Tragically, it was during this time that Zosimo met his martyrdom. In May 1799, invading French revolutionary soldiers posed a grave threat to the abbey and its inhabitants.

In the face of impending danger, Zosimo displayed great courage and faith. Despite the chaos and uncertainty surrounding him, he sought to receive the sacraments before his death. However, while making his way to a safe location for this purpose, Zosimo sustained severe injuries. His injuries ultimately proved fatal, and he passed away on 16 May 1799, in Casamari, Veroli, Frosinone, Italy.
