Blessed Vicente Pinilla Ibáñez, also known as Vicente of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, was a priest and dedicated missionary of the Augustinian Recollects. He was born on April 9, 1870, in Calatayud, Zaragoza, Spain. His strong devotion to Our Lady of Consolation and his unwavering dedication to the sacrament of confession marked his life as a servant of God.
Vicente's missionary work led him to the Philippines, where he served the local communities and shared the teachings of the Catholic faith. However, as anti-Christian persecutions escalated in the islands, he was transferred to Brazil to continue his mission. Later, he was called back to his homeland and settled in Motril, Spain.
Throughout his ministry, Blessed Vicente Pinilla Ibáñez demonstrated immense love and care for the spiritual well-being of others. He dedicated himself to hearing confessions, guiding individuals in their pursuit of reconciliation with God. His gentle and compassionate demeanor made him particularly effective in working with children, guiding them on their spiritual journeys and nurturing their faith.
Tragically, during the Spanish Civil War, motivated by religious intolerance, Vicente was martyred for his unyielding fidelity to his Catholic beliefs. On July 26, 1936, he was shot in the atrium of the Divine Shepherdess parish church in Motril, Granada, Spain.

In recognition of his heroic virtue and martyrdom, Pope John Paul II declared him venerable on April 8, 1997. Subsequently, on March 7, 1999, Pope John Paul II beatified Vicente Pinilla Ibáñez, elevating him to the status of Blessed.
