Blessed Vicente Angulo García, also known as Adalberto Juan, was born on January 22, 1904, in Quintana Martín Galindez, Burgos, Spain. He entered religious life and became a professed religious in the Brothers of the Christian Schools, otherwise known as the De La Salle Brothers.
During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Vicente Angulo García bravely lived out his vocation, devoted to serving God and educating young people. As a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, he contributed to the spiritual formation and education of countless students, imparting the values of faith, knowledge, and compassion.
Sadly, the Spanish Civil War also brought about a time of persecution for the Catholic Church in Spain. On November 30, 1936, in Paracuellos de Jarama, Madrid, Spain, Blessed Vicente Angulo García gave his life for his faith, becoming a martyr. He remained steadfast in his commitment to God and the Church until the very end, a testament to his unwavering devotion.
Blessed Vicente Angulo García's heroic witness to the Gospel did not go unnoticed, and his reputation for holiness spread among the faithful. On December 19, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI officially recognized his martyrdom, decreeing that he lived a life of heroic virtue and was worthy of veneration.
Blessed Vicente Angulo García's beatification took place on October 13, 2013, under the pontificate of Pope Francis. This ceremony was a testament to his sanctity and his sacrificial offering for the sake of his faith.
Today, Blessed Vicente Angulo García is celebrated and venerated as a model of faith, courage, and selflessness. His feast day is commemorated on November 30th each year. His memory continues to inspire and encourage people to live lives of faith, virtue, and service to others, mirroring the example set by this dedicated religious Brother and martyr.
