Sixto Alonso was a young man of deep faith and strong commitment to his vocation. He dedicated himself to his studies and spiritual formation at the seminary, preparing to serve the Church and spread the message of Christ's love to others.

On 7 November 2018, Pope Francis formally recognized the martyrdom of Sixto Alonso Helva, concluding that he was killed solely because of his firm adherence to the Catholic faith. This declaration elevated him to the status of a Blessed in the Catholic Church.

The beatification ceremony took place at the Cathedral of San Salvador in Oviedo, Spain, and was presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu. This momentous event was a testament to the Church's recognition of Sixto Alonso's holiness and his ultimate sacrifice for the sake of the Gospel.

Today, the Feast Day of Blessed Sixto Alonso Helva is celebrated on 27 May, the day of his martyrdom. On this day, the faithful are invited to reflect on his life and sacrifice, and to seek his intercession for the courage to remain steadfast in their own faith journeys.
