Salvador Chuliá Ferrandis began his path towards becoming a priest by studying at the Conciliar Seminary of Valencia. Through his studies and spiritual formation, he developed a deep love for God and a strong desire to bring His message of love and salvation to others.
On 14 April 1892, Chuliá Ferrandis joined the Capuchin Tertiary Fathers and Brothers of Our Lady of Sorrows, a religious congregation known for their commitment to poverty, humility, and devotion to the Virgin Mary. This decision marked a significant step in his journey of faith and dedication to God's work.
After several years of spiritual and theological formation, Salvador Chuliá Ferrandis was ordained as a priest on 5 July 1898. As a priest, he served the faithful diligently, offering pastoral care, guidance, and the sacraments to those in need. His deep spirituality and devotion to his vocation touched the lives of many, who admired his holiness and lived inspired by his example.
However, the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936 brought about a wave of anti-Christian persecutions. Sadly, these persecutions extended to priests and religious figures who were targeted for their faith. On 21 August 1936, Father Chuliá Ferrandis was imprisoned, enduring unjust suffering due to his commitment to Christ and the Church.
Despite the difficulties he faced while incarcerated, Salvador Chuliá Ferrandis held steadfast to his faith and continued to be a witness to God's love and mercy. His unwavering dedication to his calling and refusal to renounce his beliefs made him a beacon of hope and inspiration to his fellow prisoners in their darkest moments.
Unfortunately, the oppressive regime did not spare Father Chuliá Ferrandis from the ultimate sacrifice. On 18 September 1936, at dawn, he was shot in Torrent, Valencia, Spain, bravely offering his life in martyrdom for the sake of his faith and the salvation of souls. His death reminded many of the supreme sacrifice made by Jesus Christ and affirmed the enduring power of the Gospel in the face of persecution.
The heroic virtues and martyrdom of Salvador Chuliá Ferrandis were recognized by the Catholic Church.
