Blessed Ramon Rosell Laboria, also known as Leonci, was a priest and member of the Hospitallers of Saint John of God. He was born on December 13, 1897, in Barcelona, Spain. From a young age, Ramon showed great devotion to his faith and a strong desire to serve others. This led him to join the religious order known for their dedication to caring for the sick and vulnerable.
After completing his studies, Ramon was ordained a priest and began his ministry in various hospitals and healthcare facilities. He displayed an immense compassion for the suffering and a profound understanding of the healing power of faith. His gentle nature and commitment to providing spiritual comfort and physical care to those in need garnered him great respect from both his patients and fellow colleagues.
During the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, Ramon's unwavering faith and dedication to his calling were put to the ultimate test. Sadly, on August 11, 1936, Ramon Rosell Laboria, along with many other clergy members and religious individuals, was martyred for his faith in Valencia, Spain. In recognition of his martyrdom and the example he set through his life and death, Pope Francis declared Ramon Rosell Laboria venerable on July 5, 2013. Later, on October 13, 2013, Pope Francis beatified him, acknowledging his sanctity and his role as a model of faith and selflessness for the Catholic Church.
