Biography

Blessed Ramon Oromí SullÖ, also known as Father Ramon Oromí SullÖ, was a Catholic priest and member of the Sons of the Holy Family. Born on September 16, 1875, in SalÖs de Pallars, Lleida, Spain, he dedicated his life to serving God and his community.

Father Ramon Oromí SullÖ played a prominent role in his religious institute, serving as a secretary and publisher of their magazine. Through his writings, he endeavored to spread the teachings and values of the Sons of the Holy Family, inspiring others with his deep faith and dedication.

One of Father Ramon Oromí SullÖ's significant contributions was his writing of the first biography of Saint Josep Manyanet-y-Vives, the founder of the Sons of the Holy Family. This biography allowed for a deeper understanding of the life and mission of Saint Josep Manyanet-y-Vives, inspiring many to follow in his footsteps.

Additionally, Father Ramon Oromí SullÖ played an active role in the spiritual formation of young people, working closely with those who felt a call to religious life. He served as a catechist and spiritual director, guiding and supporting them on their journey towards a deeper relationship with God.

Devoted to the Holy Family, Father Ramon Oromí SullÖ promoted a strong devotion to them as a means for families to stay united and grow in faith. Recognizing the importance of the family unit within society, he worked tirelessly to encourage families to embrace the values of love, mutual support, and spiritual growth.

Sadly, during the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Father Ramon Oromí SullÖ faced persecution and hostility from anti-Church forces. On April 19, 1937, he was arrested, becoming one of the many martyrs of the Spanish Civil War. Tragically, on May 3, 1937, his life was taken, and his body was thrown into a common grave.

Despite the adversity he faced, Father Ramon Oromí SullÖ's legacy of faith and devotion continues to inspire and impact the faithful. Recognizing his martyrdom, Pope Benedict XVI venerated him on May 10, 2012, by decreeing his martyrdom. Later, on October 13, 2013, Pope Francis beatified him, acknowledging his exemplary life and sacrifice for the faith.

Through his unwavering commitment to the Holy Family, his dedication to the spiritual formation of young people, and his martyrdom, Blessed Ramon Oromí SullÖ serves as a powerful example of faith, courage, and selflessness for believers worldwide.
