Blessed Ramiro Frías García, also known as Vidal Ernesto, was a professed religious in the Brothers of the Christian Schools, commonly known as the De La Salle Brothers. He was born on 13 March 1906 in Villajimena, Palencia, Spain.
Ramiro Frías García was known for his deep devotion to the Catholic faith and his dedication to the education of young people. He entered the religious life and joined the De La Salle Brothers, a religious congregation founded by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, in order to fulfill his mission of providing quality Christian education to children.
During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, Ramiro Frías García, along with countless others, became a victim of the persecution faced by Catholics. On 28 November 1936, he was martyred and killed at the Vicálvaro cemetery in Madrid, Spain, for his unwavering commitment to his faith.
His martyrdom was recognized and his cause for beatification initiated. On 19 December 2011, Pope Benedict XVI declared him venerable, acknowledging his heroic virtue and the sacrifice he made for his faith. Later, on 13 October 2013, Pope Francis beatified Ramiro Frías García, officially recognizing him as Blessed.
