Biography

Blessed Rafael Vinagre Torres Muñoz, also known as Blessed Rafael Vinagre, was a Vincentian priest who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He was born on 24 October 1867 in Feria, Badajoz, Spain.

Rafael Vinagre dedicated his life to the service of God and his fellow human beings, choosing a path of priesthood as a means to fulfill this mission. He became a member of the Congregation of the Mission, commonly known as the Vincentians, a religious order founded by Saint Vincent de Paul.

Throughout his ministry, Blessed Rafael Vinagre displayed exemplary devotion to his faith and a genuine concern for the well-being of others. He tirelessly worked to bring hope, comfort, and spiritual guidance to those in need, particularly the poor and marginalized.

Furthermore, on 11 November 2017, Pope Francis beatified Blessed Rafael Vinagre, elevating him to the rank of the Blessed. The beatification recognition ceremony was held at the Palacio Vistalegre Arena in Carabanchel, Madrid, Spain. Cardinal Angelo Amato presided over the commemorative event, paying tribute to Rafael Vinagre's courage and resilience in the face of persecution.
