Blessed Rafaél Calatrava Ros, also known as Rafael Calatrava Ros, was a married layman from the diocese of Almería, Spain. He was born on July 19, 1892, in Almería, Spain.

Rafael lived during a tumultuous period in Spanish history, the Spanish Civil War. Despite being a layman, he demonstrated deep faith and unwavering dedication to his Catholic beliefs. In this challenging context, Rafael courageously lived out his vocation as a husband, father, and devout Catholic.

Tragically, on September 26, 1936, Rafael Calatrava Ros was martyred for his faith during the Spanish Civil War. He was executed in Pozo de Cantavieja, Tahal, Almería, remaining faithful to his Christian convictions until the very end.
