Biography

Blessed Pietro Corradini of Mogliano, also known as Pietro of Mogliano, was born in 1435 in Mogliano, Macerata, Italy. At the tender age of 13, he experienced a profound vision of a world in ruins, which was graciously rescued by a monk. This powerful spiritual encounter left a lasting impact on Pietro's life and ultimately led him on a path of devotion and service to God.

After completing his studies in law at the University of Perugia, Pietro made the courageous decision to abandon his legal career and instead join the Order of Friars Minor, commonly known as the Franciscans, in 1467. Embracing a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the service of God and the salvation of souls.

Pietro quickly gained recognition for his fervent preaching skills and was often called upon to share the message of the Gospel throughout the Marches region of Italy. He would also later serve as a commissioner in Crete in 1472, where he continued his preaching ministry. During his time in Crete, Pietro had the privilege of working closely with Saint James of the Marches, a renowned Franciscan missionary and preacher.

Blessed Pietro Corradini was not alone in his quest for spiritual enlightenment and the advancement of the Kingdom of God. He formed a deep friendship with Blessed Camilla Battista, whose unwavering faith and holiness greatly influenced his own spiritual journey. Together, they collaborated in spreading the Good News and inspiring others to live a life of virtue.

One significant aspect of Pietro's ministry was his unwavering dedication to combating the threat of the Ottoman Turks. He wholeheartedly believed in the importance of defending the Catholic faith and tirelessly preached crusades against the Turks, urging his fellow Christians to take up arms in defense of their faith and the Christian principles they held dear.

From 1480 to 1486 and again in 1490, Pietro was appointed as the Franciscan Provincial of the Marches, a position of great responsibility and leadership within the Franciscan Order. His exceptional leadership skills, combined with his unwavering commitment to the teachings of Saint Francis of Assisi, ensured that the Franciscan Province in the Marches thrived under his guidance.

In recognition of his exemplary life of faith and service, Blessed Pietro Corradini was beatified on August 10, 1760, by Pope Clement XIII. His feast day is celebrated annually on July 25th, although some calendars also recognize it on July 30th.

Sadly, Pietro's earthly sojourn came to an end during the night of July 24th to 25th, 1490, near Fermo, Italy. After a brief illness, he passed away, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, self-sacrifice, and a burning desire to spread the good news of salvation to all.

Blessed Pietro Corradini of Mogliano stands as a model of holiness, inspiring us all to embrace God's call, abandon worldly pursuits, and serve others with genuine love and selflessness. May his intercession guide and inspire us in our own journey of faith.
