Blessed Peter of CittÖ di Castello, also known as Peter Capucci or Peter of Tiferno, was born in 1390 in CittÖ di Castello, Italy. At the young age of 15, he joined the reformed Dominican priory of Cortona, where he dedicated himself to a life of deep prayer, penance, and contemplation.
After completing his studies, Peter was ordained in Cortona and began his journey as a preacher. He quickly gained recognition for his outstanding oratory skills and profound spirituality. His unique style of preaching, which involved holding a skull in his hand as a reminder of the transience of life, earned him the nickname "Preacher of Death."
