Blessed Peter De Duenas, also known as Peter De Duenas of Valencia, was a Franciscan friar and martyr born in 1378 in Valencia, Spain. Little is known about his early life and education.
In 1396, at the tender age of 18, Blessed Peter De Duenas embarked on a profound spiritual journey alongside another blessed individual, John de Cetina. They both felt a strong calling to bring the Gospel to the Moors in Granada, Spain, during a time when tensions between Christianity and Islam ran high.
Despite the risks involved, Peter De Duenas and John de Cetina fearlessly ventured into Granada to preach the teachings of Christianity to the Moors. Their mission aimed at fostering mutual understanding, peace, and reconciliation between the two religious communities.
Unfortunately, their efforts were met with hostility, and they soon became targets of persecution. As they fearlessly continued to preach the Gospel, their lives were cut short when they were captured by anti-Christian forces. In 1397, the brave young friars were martyred by beheading in Granada.
