Blessed Pedro Ibáñez Alonso, a Dominican priest, was born on April 27, 1892, in Fuentes de Nava, Palencia, Spain. His life was tragically cut short during the Spanish Civil War when he was martyred on August 27, 1936, in Madrid, Spain.

Pedro Ibáñez Alonso grew up in a devout Catholic family and was deeply influenced by the faith of his parents. Recognizing his vocation to the religious life, he entered the Dominican Order and was ordained a priest.
