Blessed Nemesio Cabria Andrés, also known as Julián José, was a Spanish monk and member of the Marist Brothers of the Schools. He was born on 5 August 1908 in Susilla, Santander, Spain.
Nemesio Cabria Andrés joined the Marist Brothers, a religious congregation founded by Saint Marcellin Champagnat, at a young age. He dedicated his life to the service of God and the education of young people. As a Marist Brother, Nemesio demonstrated qualities of dedication, compassion, and selflessness in his work.
Tragically, during the Spanish Civil War, Nemesio Cabria Andrés was martyred for his faith. He died a martyr's death on 28 July 1938 in Villalba de la Sierra, Cuenca, Spain. His unwavering commitment to his religious beliefs and refusal to renounce his Catholic faith led to his arrest and subsequent execution by anti-Catholic forces during this turbulent period in Spanish history.
Recognizing his exceptional virtue and sacrifice, Nemesio Cabria Andrés was venerated by the Catholic Church on 3 June 2013. Pope Francis, through a decree of martyrology, acknowledged Nemesio's martyrdom and his subsequent beatification took place on 13 October 2013.
