It was during this journey to be reunited with his mother that Nectaire experienced a powerful conversion and made the decision to renounce Islam, returning to his Christian faith.
Following his return to Christianity, Nectaire faced numerous hardships and challenges. His renunciation of Islam brought him into conflict with the prevailing authorities, and he was subsequently forced into exile for a time. Despite the difficulties he encountered, Nectaire refused to abandon his newfound faith.
Eventually, Nectaire returned to Ephesus, the place of his birth and the site of his profound conversion. Displaying remarkable bravery, he fearlessly proclaimed his Christian beliefs in public, challenging the prevailing social and religious norms. Unfortunately, this bold act of witnessing to his faith ultimately cost Nectaire his life.
