Biography

Blessed Michelbernard Marchand was born on September 28, 1749, in Le Havre, Seine-Maritime, France. Little is known about his early life or family background. He entered the priesthood and served as a priest in the diocese of Rouen, France.

During the anti-Catholic persecutions of the French Revolution, Blessed Michelbernard Marchand found himself caught in the turbulent times where the Catholic Church was under severe attack. He was among many individuals who were targeted for their faith and faced persecution.

In 1794, Michelbernard Marchand was imprisoned on a ship in the harbor of Rochefort, France. The conditions on these prison ships were horrific, with overcrowding, disease, and lack of basic necessities. The prisoners, including Blessed Michelbernard, were left to suffer and eventually die.
