Blessed Marie Cluse, also known as Maria Cluse, Marta of the Good Angel, Marta dell‚ÄôAngelo Buono Cluse, and Sister Marthe of the Good Angel, was a Sacramentine nun who made her profession on 4 November 1783. She was born on 5 December 1761, in Bouvante, Dråme, France.
Marie Cluse lived during a tumultuous period in French history, the French Revolution. As the revolution swept through France, the Catholic Church and religious orders faced severe persecution. Marie Cluse, along with many other Catholics, bravely held onto her faith during this trying time.
Marie Cluse's unwavering dedication to her religious vocation led her to become a martyr. She was martyred in the French Revolution and died a brutal death.
