On March 25, 2017, Pope Francis further elevated him to the status of blessed, marking a significant step towards his canonization. The beatification ceremony took place in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Aguadulce, Almería, Spain, with Cardinal Angelo Amato presiding over the celebration.
