Inspired by his calling, Luis decided to join the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a religious order founded by Saint John Baptist de La Salle. The order focused on providing education to children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Luis's unwavering commitment to his faith and vocation was put to the ultimate test. Tragically, on August 7, 1936, Brother Luis Villanueva Montoya was martyred in "Boca del Congosto", a town in Los Yébenes, Toledo, Spain.
