Biography

Blessed Louis De Halles, also known as Brother Louis, was a Mercedarian friar who dedicated his life to preaching Christianity and rescuing Christians enslaved by the Muslims. Unfortunately, not much is known about his early life, including his exact birth date, representation, and the names of his parents.

Louis embarked on his missionary work during a time when Christians and Muslims were in constant conflict. He fearlessly traveled through regions where Christianity was under threat, particularly in areas dominated by Saracens, who were Muslims of Arab origin. His primary mission was to spread the teachings of Christ and to negotiate the release of Christian slaves held captive by the Muslims.
