Biography

Blessed Lotario Arnari, also known as Arnarius or Arnarii, was a Mercedarian friar who lived during the medieval period. Although little is known about his early life, he dedicated himself to a life of piety and service to God.

Lotario Arnari became a member of the Order of Our Lady of Mercy for the Redemption of Captives, commonly known as the Mercedarians. This religious order was founded in 1218 with the mission of ransoming Christian captives from the hands of Muslim captors during the time of the Crusades. The Mercedarians also worked to provide spiritual comfort and support to those enslaved.

Lotario Arnari's devotion to the principles of the Mercedarian Order was evident in his commitment to the redemptive mission. He tirelessly advocated for the liberation of Christians held captive by Muslims, and he fervently prayed for their safety and release.

His feast day is commemorated by the Mercedarians on 24th February each year.
