Blessed Lluís Jové Pach, also known as Blessed Luis Jové Pach, was a Spanish Catholic priest and member of the Order of Claretians. He was born on 1 February 1872 in Lleida, Spain, and dedicated his life to the service of God and the Church.
Lluís Jové Pach entered the Claretian Congregation and made his profession on 9 March 1888, committing himself to a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience. His deep faith and love for God led him to pursue the priesthood, and on 29 February 1896, he was ordained as a priest.
Throughout his ministry, Father Lluís Jové Pach faithfully served the people of God, dedicating himself to preaching, teaching, and providing spiritual guidance. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and selfless devotion to his congregation.
Tragically, during the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, Father Lluís Jové Pach became a victim of religious persecution. Despite the dangers and threats to his own life, he courageously continued to practice his faith, readily offering support and encouragement to those in need.
On 18 October 1936, in Cervera, Lleida, Spain, Blessed Lluís Jové Pach attained the crown of martyrdom. He was among the 109 Spanish Claretian Martyrs who gave their lives for their faith during that period of religious persecution.
Recognizing his heroic virtue and martyrdom, Pope Francis venerated Blessed Lluís Jové Pach on 21 December 2016, with a decree of martyrdom. His beatification followed on 21 October 2017, celebrated at the beautiful Basilica of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, presided over by Archbishop Angelo Amato.
Today, Blessed Lluís Jové Pach is remembered as a dedicated priest and martyr whose unwavering faith and commitment inspire the faithful. His life serves as a testament to the enduring power of God's love and the courage to stand firm in times of persecution. Faithful continue to celebrate his feast day on 18 October and also honor him as one of the 109 Spanish Claretian Martyrs on 1 February.
