Then, on 16 October 2021, Pope Francis presided over her beatification recognition, which took place at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain. The beatification ceremony was led by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, who proclaimed Julia Durán Palacios as blessed and honored her as a model for Catholics to emulate.
Today, Blessed Julia Durán Palacios is remembered and venerated for her witness to the Catholic faith and her ultimate sacrifice in defense of her beliefs. Her feast day is celebrated on 27th August, the day of her martyrdom.
