Juan De La Cruz Herruzo Ruiz was born on November 24, 1884, in the town of Obejo, located in the Córdoba province of Spain. From a young age, he exhibited a deep piety and a desire to dedicate his life to the service of God. This led him to pursue his studies in theology, eventually leading him to be ordained as a priest.
Father Herruzo Ruiz's ministry in Alcaracejos began at a challenging time in Spain's history, marked by civil unrest and political tension. Further honoring his sacrifice, Pope Francis beatified Father Juan De La Cruz Herruzo Ruiz on October 16, 2021. The beatification recognition ceremony took place at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain. The event was presided over by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, serving as representative of the Pope.
