Blessed José Pampliega Santiago, also known as Berardo José, was a devout monk and member of the Marist Brothers of the Schools. He was born on 26 August 1912 in the town of Cañizar de Argaño, located in the province of Burgos, Spain.
From a young age, José displayed a deep spiritual inclination and a desire to dedicate his life to God. He entered the Marist Brothers and pursued his vocation with great enthusiasm and commitment. On 4 August 1936, Blessed José Pampliega Santiago met his untimely death in Valencia, Spain. He was martyred for his unwavering faith and refusal to renounce his religious beliefs.
