Following this, on March 25, 2017, Pope Francis beatified Blessed José María Ruano López, a solemn ceremony that took place in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Aguadulce, Almería, Spain. The beatification Mass was presided over by Cardinal Angelo Amato.
Today, Blessed José María Ruano López is honored and remembered as a martyr, a role model, and an intercessor for those who face persecution for their faith.
