Blessed José María Recalde Mag√∫regui, also known as Ignacio of Galdácano, was born on February 7, 1912 in Galdácano, Vitoria, Spain. He grew up in a devout Catholic family and showed a deep spiritual inclination from a young age. Being attracted to the Franciscan Capuchin way of life, he entered the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin and was ordained a priest.
As a Franciscan Capuchin priest, Blessed José María Recalde Mag√∫regui dedicated his life to serving God and the people entrusted to his care. He lived a life of simplicity, poverty, and humility, modeling his actions after the example of St. Francis of Assisi.
