He grew up in a devout Catholic family and showed a deep spiritual inclination from a young age. Being attracted to the Franciscan Capuchin way of life, he entered the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin and was ordained a priest.

As a Franciscan Capuchin priest, Blessed José María Recalde Mag√∫regui dedicated his life to serving God and the people entrusted to his care. He lived a life of simplicity, poverty, and humility, modeling his actions after the example of St. Francis of Assisi. He bravely faced persecution and the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life for his belief in Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.

The remarkable holiness and courage displayed by Blessed José María Recalde Mag√∫regui did not go unnoticed. His martyrdom and unwavering faith became an inspiration to many, and his reputation for sanctity spread among the faithful. On March 27, 2013, Pope Francis declared him venerable, acknowledging his heroic virtues. Later, on October 13, 2013, Pope Francis beatified him, recognizing his martyrdom and his supreme sacrifice in witnessing to the truth and love of Christ.

Today, Blessed José María Recalde Mag√∫regui is remembered as a shining example of faith, resilience, and dedication to God.
