Biography

Blessed José María Fernández Muñoz, also known as José María Fernández Muñoz, was a Seminarian of the archdiocese of Oviedo, Spain, who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He was born on 9 May 1915 in Muñon Cimero, Asturias, Spain, and demonstrated an early devotion to the Catholic faith.

Growing up in a deeply religious family, José María Fernández Muñoz felt a strong calling to the priesthood from a young age. He pursued his vocation and entered the seminary of the archdiocese of Oviedo in his late teenage years. Immersed in his studies, José María dedicated himself to theological education and spiritual formation, seeking to deepen his understanding of Catholic teachings and live out his faith.
