He was born on 21 March 1901 in Fuenteovejuna, Córdoba, Spain, and dedicated his life to the service of God and the people of his community.
Father José González Pérez was known for his strong faith, kindness, and dedication to his parishioners. On 23 November 2020, Pope Francis officially recognized Father José González Pérez's martyrdom, venerated him, and declared him Blessed. This recognition was a significant milestone in the process of his beatification, which was celebrated on 16 October 2021 by Pope Francis. The beatification ceremony took place at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain, and was presided over by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro.
