Blessed José García Librán, also known as José Librán García, was a Catholic priest in the diocese of Ávila, Spain, who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He was born on 19 August 1909 in Herreruela de Oropesa, Toledo, Spain.
Little is known about José García Librán's early life, but he felt a strong calling to the priesthood and entered seminary. He was ordained as a priest and began his ministry in the diocese of Ávila, where he served with dedication and zeal, attending to the spiritual needs of the faithful.
During the Spanish Civil War, a time of great turmoil and conflict in Spain, José García Librán remained faithful to his priestly duties, providing solace and support to the afflicted. However, his commitment to the Gospel and his refusal to renounce his faith led to his arrest by Republican forces.
On 14 August 1936, on the same day as his feast day, Blessed José García Librán was martyred for his faith in Christ. He was executed in Pedro Bernardo, Ávila, Spain, as a result of his refusal to denounce his Catholic beliefs.
