Blessed Joris, also known as Jorio, was born into a devout Armenian family, the son of Stephen and Helen. He grew up amidst the love and presence of his seven brothers, in a home filled with faith and strong Christian values.
From a young age, Joris felt a deep calling to serve God and his people. He embarked on his journey of priesthood, dedicating himself to the study of theology and the pursuit of holiness. Joris' unwavering faith and exceptional spiritual insight quickly gained recognition among his peers, and he was ordained as a priest.
Driven by a passion to spread the teachings of Christ, Joris was appointed as a bishop in Armenia. He embraced his role wholeheartedly, shepherding the faithful and working tirelessly to strengthen the Church in that region.
In the year 1033, while on a pilgrimage to Boulogne in northern France, Blessed Joris tragically passed away. His death was attributed to natural causes, and his mortal remains were laid to rest in the church of Saint Bartholomew in Béthune, Artois, France.
Throughout his life, Blessed Joris demonstrated immense virtue, exemplifying compassion, integrity, and devotion. His memory and legacy have continued to be honored, and his feast day is celebrated on July 26th. Though not officially venerated or beatified by the Catholic Church, his life serves as an inspiration to all those who seek to follow Christ faithfully.
