Biography

Blessed Joan Vallés Anguera, also known as Joan Valle Anguera, was a Catholic priest and a member of the Diocesan Laborer Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He was born on 21 December 1872 in Darmós, Tarragona, Spain.

From a young age, Joan Vallés Anguera felt called to the priesthood and dedicated his life to serving God and the Church. He entered the seminary and was ordained as a Catholic priest, embarking on a journey of faith and selfless dedication.

During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, when religious tensions were high, Blessed Joan Vallés Anguera faced persecution due to his unwavering commitment to his vocation. Despite the danger, he courageously continued to minister to his parishioners, offering spiritual guidance and comfort during those troubled times.

In August 1936, tragedy struck when Blessed Joan Vallés Anguera was martyred in Darmós, Tarragona, Spain. He gave his life for his faith, remaining steadfast in his love for God and his commitment to his parishioners, even in the face of persecution and violence.

Later, on 13 October 2013, Pope Francis beatified Blessed Joan Vallés Anguera, elevating him to the rank of "Blessed." This recognition serves as an inspiration and a reminder of his sacrifice and devotion to God.
