Biography

Blessed Joan Bonavida Dellá, also known as Brother Fèlix of Tortosa, was a Franciscan Capuchin friar who was born on April 2, 1894, in Tortosa, Tarragona, Spain. He entered religious life and made his solemn profession on January 23, 1926, dedicating himself to the service of God and his fellow brothers and sisters.

During a turbulent period in Spanish history, Brother Fèlix faced persecution for his faith. In the midst of the Spanish Civil War, which took place from 1936 to 1939, he courageously stood firm in his commitment to Christ and the Church. Unfortunately, his unwavering faith led to his martyrdom at the hands of Marxists on August 1, 1936, on the outskirts of Santa Maria Palafolls, Barcelona, Spain.

The life of Blessed Joan Bonavida Dellá is a testament to the power of faith in the face of adversity.
