Biography

Blessed Jes√∫s De Sande Tena was a priest of the diocese of Córdoba, Spain, serving in the Villaharta community. He was born on 10 August 1899 in Monterrubio, Badajoz, Spain. Jes√∫s De Sande Tena dedicated his life to the service of God and the Catholic Church, and he was known for his deep faith and commitment to his parishioners.

During the Spanish Civil War, which occurred from 1936 to 1939, Jes√∫s De Sande Tena bravely remained in Villaharta, a small town in the province of Córdoba, despite the danger and violent unrest that engulfed the country. A year later, on 16 October 2021, Pope Francis presided over his beatification ceremony at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain. The beatification recognition was led by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, marking a significant honor for Jes√∫s De Sande Tena and a cause for celebration and inspiration for the faithful.
