Biography

Blessed Jacinto García Riesco, born on 28 August 1894 in Calvillas, Somiedo, Asturias, Spain, was a Dominican cleric who became a martyr during the Spanish Civil War. He is also known as Jacinto Miguel García Riesco.

Born into a devout Catholic family, Jacinto felt a calling to the priesthood from an early age. He joined the Dominican Order and was known for his steadfast commitment to his faith and the pursuit of knowledge. After completing his studies, Jacinto was ordained a priest and began his ministry.

Throughout his priesthood, Blessed Jacinto served as a faithful shepherd, dedicating himself to the spiritual needs of his parishioners. The Catholic Church recognized the sanctity of Blessed Jacinto's life and the sacrifice he made. On 26 June 2006, Pope Benedict XVI declared him venerable, acknowledging his heroic virtues. A year later, on 28 October 2007, Pope Benedict XVI beatified him, further confirming his holiness.
