Biography

Blessed Guy of Vicogne, also known as Guido of Vicogne, was a devout Catholic monk and the founder of the Premonstratensian abbey of Vicogne in the diocese of Arras, France. Although specific details regarding his birth and childhood are not available, it is known that he lived during the 12th century.

After entering religious life, Guy of Vicogne became a monk of the Premonstratensian Order, which is also known as the Norbertines. This order was founded by Saint Norbert of Xanten and followed the teachings and way of life of Saint Augustine. Guido devoted himself to a life of prayer, contemplation, and service to God.

Recognized for his deep spirituality and leadership skills, Guido was eventually appointed as the superior of the Premonstratensian community at the abbey of Vicogne. Under his guidance, the abbey flourished both spiritually and materially. He was known for his wisdom, compassion, and dedication to the spiritual growth of the community.

Blessed Guy of Vicogne was particularly revered for his commitment to the principles of the Premonstratensian Order, which involved living in community, following a regular schedule of prayer, celebrating the sacraments, and serving the needs of the local community.
