Biography

Blessed Gil Rodicio Y Rodicio, also known as Gil Blas, was born on 20 March 1888 in Requero, Orense, Spain. He came from a devout family and was raised with a strong Catholic faith.

In 1908, Gil joined the Salesians of Don Bosco, a religious congregation dedicated to the education and care of young people. He became a co-adjutor brother in Sarria, Barcelona, Spain. While at the Salesian house, Gil worked as a distributor of the bakery, a role that allowed him to provide not only the fruits of his labor but also his own resources to support the poor.

Aside from his generosity towards the less privileged, Gil also had a passion for teaching. He used his knowledge and skills to educate the youth and guide them in their spiritual formation. Gil's commitment to his vocation as a Salesian brother and his dedication to serving others made him a beloved figure in the community.

Tragically, during the Spanish Civil War, Gil was martyred for his faith on 4 August 1936 in Barcelona, Spain. His unwavering devotion to Christ and the Church led to his persecution, yet he remained steadfast in his beliefs until the end.
