Biography

Blessed Genaro Fueyo Castañon, born on 23 January 1864 in the Santa Maria de Congostinas parish in Linares del Puerto, Asturias, was the son of Ramón Fueyo and Isabel Castañón. He was ordained a priest in the diocese of Oviedo, Spain on 17 December 1887.

He served as a dedicated priest for the Saint James parish in Nembra, Spain, where he became well-known for his deep devotion to the Eucharist. His fervent love for the Blessed Sacrament led him to introduce overnight Eucharistic adoration in the region, making it a common practice among the faithful. Genaro Fueyo Castañon tirelessly worked to promote this devotion, emphasizing the importance of spending time in prayer and contemplation before the Eucharist.

Tragically, during the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Genaro Fueyo Castañon suffered persecution for his faith.
