Biography

Blessed Gabrieljosephroger Longueville, also known as Gabriel Longueville, was a priest of the diocese of Viviers, France. He was born on March 18, 1931, in Margillac de √âtables, Ardèche, France.

After serving in his local diocese, Father Gabriel felt a calling to become a missionary. He volunteered as a Fidei Donum missionary and was sent to the diocese of La Rioja, Argentina. He dedicated himself to the pastoral care of the people and worked tirelessly to spread the teachings of the Catholic faith in this new environment.

Father Gabriel's ministry in La Rioja was filled with immense dedication and love for the people he served. He was known for his compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment to his faith. He worked closely with the local community, involving himself in various social and charitable activities, and fostering a spirit of solidarity among the people.

Tragically, on July 18, 1976, Father Gabriel was martyred in the town of Chamical, La Rioja, Argentina. He was targeted and killed due to his steadfast devotion to the Catholic Church and his unwavering faith. Finally, on April 27, 2019, Pope Francis presided over the beatification ceremony, officially recognizing Father Gabriel Longueville as Blessed. The beatification ceremony took place in La Rioja, Argentina, and was presided by Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu.
