Biography

Blessed Frederick Albert, also known as Federico Albert, Frederico Albert, or Fredrik Albert, was a Catholic priest and the founder of the Congregation of the Vincentian Sisters of Mary Immaculate, also known as the Albertines. He was born on October 16, 1820, in Turin, Italy.

From a young age, Frederick Albert displayed a deep devotion to God and a strong desire to serve others. He entered the priesthood and dedicated his life to the service of God and the Church. He had a particular affinity for serving the poor, sick, and marginalized in society.

In 1855, Father Albert established the Congregation of the Vincentian Sisters of Mary Immaculate with the goal of providing spiritual and physical care to those in need. The Albertines, as they became known, embraced a charism of service, focusing on education, healthcare, and charitable works. Under Father Albert's guidance, the congregation grew rapidly, spreading to various parts of Italy and beyond.

Father Albert's leadership was marked by his deep commitment to social justice and his tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of those in need. He advocated for the rights of the poor and worked to address the underlying causes of poverty. His dedication and love for his fellow human beings inspired many to join him in his mission.

On September 30, 1876, Father Albert passed away in Lanzo Torinese, Turin, Italy. His death was a great loss to the Albertines and to the countless individuals whose lives had been touched by his compassion and selflessness.

In recognition of his virtuous life, Father Albert was venerated by Pope Venerable Pius XII on January 16, 1953. His heroic virtues, exemplified in his unwavering faith and commitment to serving those in need, were acknowledged by the Church. On September 30, 1984, Pope John Paul II beatified Father Albert, declaring him blessed and affirming his saintly example.

Blessed Frederick Albert's legacy continues to inspire people to this day. The Congregation of the Vincentian Sisters of Mary Immaculate, founded by him, continues its mission of compassion and service around the world. His life serves as a reminder of the transformative power of love and selflessness in making a positive impact on society.
