Blessed Esteve Santacana Armengol, also known as Father Remigi of El Papiol, was born on 20 September 1885 in El Papiol, Barcelona, Spain. He was a devout Franciscan Capuchin who made his religious profession on 4 October 1905. Esteve Santacana Armengol was ordained a priest on 5 June 1909, dedicating his life to serving God and spreading the message of the Gospel.
During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Esteve Santacana Armengol faced persecution, and his unwavering faith in God ultimately led to his martyrdom. As a committed Catholic and a principled individual, he became a target for the Marxist forces due to his religious beliefs.

Esteve Santacana Armengol was subsequently beatified on 21 November 2015 by Pope Francis himself, in a solemn ceremony held at the cathedral of Santa Creu i Santa EulÖlia in Barcelona, Spain. The beatification ceremony was presided over by Cardinal Angelo Amato, representing the Holy See.
