Biography

Blessed Esteve Llover Torrent, also known as MillÖ, was a devout Catholic monk and member of the Marist Brothers of the Schools. He was born on July 27, 1885, in the town of Les Planes d'Hostoles, Girona, in the region of Catalonia, Spain.

Esteve Llover Torrent dedicated his life to serving God and his fellow brothers and sisters. He entered the Marist Brothers congregation, which was founded by Saint Marcellin Champagnat, and embraced the religious life as a monk. As a Marist Brother, he committed himself to the education and formation of young people, as the congregation's primary mission was focused on teaching and promoting Christian values.

During the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, which took place from 1936 to 1939, Esteve Llover Torrent faced immense challenges and persecution due to his faith. On August 10, 1936, in the Plana de Alcira region of Valencia, Spain, he was martyred for his religious beliefs. Esteve Llover Torrent, along with many other Catholic clergy and religious, became victims of the violent and religiously motivated persecution that occurred during the war.

Esteve Llover Torrent's sacrifice and steadfast devotion to his faith did not go unnoticed. On June 3, 2013, Pope Francis recognized his martyrdom by decreeing his inclusion in the martyrology. Esteve Llover Torrent was formally beatified by Pope Francis on October 13, 2013, in a sacred ceremony that celebrated his exemplary life of faith and his ultimate sacrifice.

Esteve Llover Torrent's feast day is celebrated on August 10th each year, allowing the Catholic faithful to honor and remember his life, his dedication to God, and his courageous martyrdom.
