Biography

Blessed Estanislao Páramo Marcos, also known as Brother Estanislao, was a faithful servant of God and a member of the Vincentian Congregation of the Mission. He was born on May 7, 1885, in Pedrosa del Rio Urbel, Burgos, Spain.

Brother Estanislao dedicated his life to serving others and spreading the message of Christ's love. He joined the Vincentian Congregation, commonly known as the Lazarists, who are known for their commitment to serving the poor and marginalized.

During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Brother Estanislao continued to live his religious mission despite the immense challenges and dangers he faced. He witnessed the chaos and violence that engulfed the country as various factions clashed in a struggle for power.

In those trying times, Brother Estanislao remained steadfast in his faith and was unwavering in his commitment to his religious vocation. He embodied the virtues of compassion, selflessness, and courage as he tirelessly served the suffering people around him, providing spiritual solace and relief amidst the turmoil.

Tragically, on July 28, 1936, Brother Estanislao was martyred for his faith in Madrid, Spain. Faced with persecution, he remained faithful to Christ until the very end, firm in his conviction of the eternal truths he held dear.

Blessed Estanislao Páramo Marcos, recognized as a martyr for his unwavering faith, was venerated on March 23, 2017, by Pope Francis, who decreed his martyrdom. His beatification followed on November 11, 2017, also by Pope Francis. The beatification recognition ceremony took place at the Palacio Vistalegre Arena in Carabanchel, Madrid, Spain. The event was presided over by Cardinal Angelo Amato and Cardinal Carlos Osoro Sierra of Madrid, celebrating the life and sacrifice of Brother Estanislao.

Today, Blessed Estanislao Páramo Marcos serves as an inspiration to all who strive to live their faith courageously and selflessly, particularly in times of adversity.
