Biography

Blessed Enrique Palacios Monrabá, born on 3 April 1917 in Cazalla de la Sierra, Sevilla, Spain, was the son of Blessed Manuel Palacios Rodríguez. His family was deeply devoted to their Catholic faith, and this had a significant influence on Enrique's spiritual growth from an early age.

Enrique's passion for the priesthood led him to enter the seminary of the archdiocese of Seville on 29 August 1928. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his studies, excelling in his theological formation and exhibiting a great love for Christ and the Church. His strong faith and desire to serve the Lord fueled his determination to become a priest.

However, Enrique's path took an unexpected turn when the Spanish Civil War erupted in the summer of 1936. He had returned home to visit his family when the conflict broke out, finding himself caught in the midst of great turmoil and persecution against Catholics. The Palacios family, including Enrique and his father, were arrested for their unwavering commitment to their faith.

Despite the immense danger they faced, Enrique and his father remained steadfast in their faith and refused to renounce their Catholic beliefs. Their unwavering devotion to Christ planted the seeds of martyrdom within their hearts. On 5 August 1936, in the courtyard of the prison at Cazalla de la Sierra, Sevilla, Spain, Enrique Palacios Monrabá, alongside his father, was unjustly executed for their faith.
