Blessed Elizabeth Guillen, also known as Blessed Elizabeth of Barcelona, was a Mercedarian nun in Barcelona, Spain. Blessed Elizabeth Guillen was deeply committed to her religious calling and dedicated her life to the service of God and the order of Our Lady of Mercy. The Mercedarians, also known as the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, was founded in the 13th century by St. Peter Nolasco. The main mission of the order was to ransom Christian captives held by Muslim forces during the period of the Crusades.
