Born on 14th December 1908 in Naolinco, Veracruz, Mexico, Darío demonstrated a strong sense of devotion to his faith from an early age. In acknowledgment of his martyrdom, Pope John Paul II declared him venerable on 22nd June 2004. The Holy Father further elevated him to the rank of blessed on 20th November 2005, in a beatification ceremony presided over by Pope Benedict XVI. The beatification ceremony was celebrated by Cardinal José Saraiva Martins in a soccer stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico, highlighting the significant impact and widespread veneration bestowed upon Blessed Darío Acosta Zurita by the faithful.
