Blessed Beatrice Bicchieri, also known as Beatrice of Vercelli, was a devout Catholic who dedicated her life to serving God and the Church. Little is known about her early life, including her birth date, but she lived during the 13th and 14th centuries in Vercelli, Italy.
Beatrice was initially married to Gioachino de Ivachi, but she became a widow at some point before the year 1270. Following her husband's death, Beatrice felt a strong calling to religious life and decided to join the Dominican Order. She entered the Dominican convent in Vercelli and became a member of the religious community there.
Beatrice's commitment and piety were quickly recognized by her sisters in the convent, and she soon rose to become the first abbess of the newly founded Dominican convent in Vercelli. As abbess, Beatrice demonstrated exemplary leadership, guiding the sisters in their spiritual journeys and ensuring the smooth functioning of the religious community. She was deeply admired for her profound prayer life and her unwavering dedication to penance.
Throughout her life, Beatrice was known for her humility and selflessness. She diligently cared for the needs of her sisters, providing them with spiritual guidance and encouraging them to live in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
