Biography

Blessed Armand Radigue, also known as Father Ladislas, Ladislao Radigue, and Armando Pietro Pietro, was an esteemed member of the Picpus Fathers, a religious order in the Catholic Church. Armand was born on May 8, 1823, in Saint-Patrice-du-Désert, Orne, France. He dedicated his life to serving God and his fellowmen.

Armand joined the Picpus Fathers on March 7, 1845, exemplifying his deep commitment to living a life of faith. After several years of training and spiritual formation, he was ordained as a priest on April 22, 1848. Recognized for his dedication and exceptional qualities, Armand was appointed as the novice master for the Picpus Fathers. For twenty years, he guided and mentored young men aspiring to enter religious life, instilling in them the values of the order.

In 1868, Armand's exemplary leadership led to his selection as the Vicar-General of the Picpus Fathers. This elevated position allowed him to contribute to the governance and overall direction of the religious congregation. Subsequently, he became the superior of the Picpus mother house in Paris, France, a role in which he continued to promote spiritual growth and foster a strong sense of community among the members.

Tragically, during the Paris Commune persecutions, Blessed Armand Radigue was martyred for his unwavering faith. On May 26, 1871, he was shot in Paris, France, bearing witness to his steadfast commitment to Christ and his Church. After his death, the memory of Blessed Armand Radigue lived on, and his heroic virtues became widely acknowledged. On November 25, 2021, Pope Francis recognized his sanctity by decreeing him as venerable, acknowledging the significance of his life and the example he set for others. Furthermore, on April 22, 2023, Pope Francis beatified Armand Radigue, signifying his beatitude and granting him the title of "Blessed."

Though the specific details of his representation are unknown, his feast day is celebrated on May 26th each year.
