Early in his life, Antonio felt a deep calling to serve God and pursued his religious vocation within the Dominican Order. His dedication and commitment to his faith led him to the priesthood, where he devoted himself to spreading the message of love, peace, and Christian values.
However, the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936 brought immense persecution and violence against those who held religious beliefs. As a vocal proponent of the Catholic faith, Father Antonio Varona became a target for those seeking to eradicate Catholicism from Spain.
